HOW IT HAPPENED
- Butler got on the board first in the top of the first courtesy of Rhoades' sixth home run in the last five games. The Shockers plated two of their own in the bottom half of the frame as the Dawgs trailed 2-1 heading to the second.
- A walk and a leadoff single put runners on the corners for Butler with no outs. A ground out and a single plated two runs for the Dawgs as BU took the 3-2 lead into the bottom half of the inning. Wichita State responded with three runs on three hits and an error as the home side took the two-run advantage into the third.
- Behind six walks and four hits, the Shockers exploded for 11 runs in the bottom of the third as Butler trailed 16-3 after three innings of action.
- The Shockers tacked on two more in the fourth and seven in the fifth as the Dawgs trailed 25-3 heading into the sixth.
- Wichita State added two more in the sixth before the game ended in seven frames with the home side securing the 27-3 win.
