INDIANAPOLIS - Anna Wypych was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, and
Saniya Jackson earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. Wypych was spectacular in a 2-0 week for the Dawgs posting a career-high 21 points against DePaul.
Wypych was sensational last week for BU, averaging 14.5 points, two rebounds and two assists across two games. The freshman shot 42.9 percent (9-21) from the floor and sank 33.3 percent (4-12) of her shots from distance.
On top of a career-high 21 against DePaul, Wypych added three assists, a rebound and a steal in 28 minutes of action helping lift Butler to victory on the road. Against Seton Hall, the Michigan native added eight points, three rebounds and an assist en route to a 62-55 victory.
Saniya Jackson averaged a double-double last week for BU, averaging 12 points per game and 11 rebounds per game. Over the course of the week, Jackson pulled down 19 defensive rebounds to go with three offensive boards. The redshirt sophomore added three steals, two assists and a block.
The Fort Wayne native was 10-for-11 from the floor during the week and was 3-for-4 from behind the arc. Against DePaul, Jackson poured in 19 points and 14 rebounds marking her second double-double of the season and her second against the Blue Demons.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, March 6, as BU takes on Georgetown in the first round of the 2026 BIG EAST Tournament. Butler is the No. 9 seed in the event and tip-off between the Bulldogs and Hoyas is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
