The Butler men's tennis team dropped a tightly contested match to IU Indy on Friday night, 4-3. The loss moves the Dawgs to 3-10 on the season, while the Jaguars advance to 4-10.
Butler started off strong, taking the doubles point. At the top of the lineup, the duo of
Nicolas Arts and
Rahulniket Konakanchi picked up a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, their first of the spring. At No. 2,
Riccardo Baldi and
Arnesh Singh also picked up their first victory of the spring, winning 6-2 to secure the doubles point for Butler.
IU Indy responded by taking four of the six singles points, clinching the victory for the Jaguars. The bottom third of the lineup delivered for Butler, with
Rahulniket Konakanchi and
Siddhartha Lama taking home wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, but the top of the Jaguars lineup proved decisive in the one-point contest.
Riccardo Baldi and
Nicolas Arts fought valiantly, each taking their matches to three sets but ultimately falling short.
The Bulldogs will get a few days off before traveling to Washington, D.C., to face Howard Bison on Thursday, March 12. Match time is still TBA. More information will be made available on
