Brooke Arington - 2026 BIG EAST vs Creighton

Bulldogs Fall to Creighton Thursday in BIG EAST Tournament

| By:

The Bulldogs dropped a 4-1 decision to seventh-seeded Creighton Thursday morning in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament in Cayce, S.C.

Brooke Arington picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles, taking the victory over Ana Martinez. Chase Metcalf led late in the second set, 7-5, 5-4, before her match against Sophie Schwartz was abandoned at No. 1 singles when Creighton was able to clinch the team result.

Lauren Cook and Jordan Schildcrout won, 6-4, at No. 3 doubles but the Bluejays were able to take the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. That gave Creighton a 1-0 lead that proved to be significant as the singles matches shook out.

In singles play, Annika Elvestrom (No. 4), Alem Cote (No. 5), and Livia Daud (No. 6) won their matches to clinch the result. Butler's Sophie Parr and Creighton's Teresa Tran split sets and were tied at 2-2 in the deciding set when the team result was clinched and their match abandoned.

The loss ends the season for the Bulldogs. Creighton advances to Friday's quarterfinals against second-seeded DePaul.
