Destiny Macharia Visit

Destiny Macharia Follows Coach Marchesano to Butler

Destiny Macharia, who played in 34 games off the bench for Purdue Fort Wayne last season, will reunite with head coach Maria Marchesano at Butler. Macharia will have three years of eligibility remaining starting with the 2026-27 season. 
 
Macharia, a 5-6 guard who averaged 3.3 points per game as a freshman, helped coach Marchesano and the Mastodons reach the Super 16 of the WNIT while posting a 21-14 record during the regular season and a 12-8 mark in Horizon League action. 
 
"Seeing Des transform last year was very cool to see," said Marchesnao. "She has every tool imaginable and is the ultimate teammate. Bulldog fans are going to love the energy and joy she brings to the gym!"
 
The Columbia, Md., native scored more than 1,000 points in her career at Oakland Mills. She was named a first team All-County selection once and a second team All-County selection twice. She was selected as a Baltimore Sun Honorable Mention and earned All-Maryland Freshman team honors in 2021-22. Macharia was a member of the National Honor Society and the Black Student Union. She played club for the Maryland Stars, Team Thrill and Germantown Lady Panthers.
