William Zegarski Wins 10K For Second Year In A Row On Night One

STORRS, CONN.—The Butler track and field team had a stellar start to Big East Outdoor Championships on Thursday afternoon after securing their seventh straight title in the men's 10,000 meters.
 
Zegarski took home the Big East crown for the second consecutive year with a time of 28:51.84. Matthew Forrester followed in third-place with a time of 28:55.93.
 
Brendan Thomas and Eli Fullerton rounded out the top-five spots for the Dawgs. Thomas finished fourth with a time of 29:05.53. Fullerton finished fifth with a time of 29:05.56. 
 
The Bulldogs collected 25 points in the event giving them the lead in the conference standings after the first day of competition.
 
The second day of competition will take place tomorrow beginning with the conclusion of the multis events at 12 PM. The first track event will be the 1,500 meters at 2 PM with the long jump kicking off in the field at 3 PM.
