Karen Stack Named Assistant Coach/Director of Player Personnel For Butler Women’s Basketball

| By:
Head Coach Maria Marchesano has announced the hiring of Karen Stack as an Assistant Coach/Director of Player Personnel for the Butler women's basketball program. Stack joins the Bulldogs staff after spending the last four seasons with Northwestern.

"I am very excited to work with Karen and have her join our team," said Marchesano. "She brings experience from every level of the game and has a skill set that ranges from the court to the front office. She's a relentless worker and relationship builder and will be a great addition to our staff!"

Stack spent over 30 years as a member of the Chicago Bulls organization where she most notably served stints as the Director of Basketball Administration and Director of Team Operations and was a part of six NBA championship teams with the Bulls. Prior to the 2018-19 season, Stack was named the first female assistant coach in the history of the franchise.

Stack played collegiately for Northwestern from 1980 to 1983, where she also graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications. During her time at Northwestern, the Wildcats finished in the top three of the Big Ten every season and made their first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1982. After her collegiate career, Stack played professionally in France for one season before joining the Bulls organization.

After leaving the Bulls in 2020, Stack worked as a women's basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network during the 2020-21 season and as a volunteer coach for Full Package Athletics.

Prior to joining the Northwestern staff, Stack served as an assistant coach for the Carmel Catholic High School girls basketball team during the 2021-22 season, helping the Corsairs win the IHSA Class 3A state championship.

Stack is enshrined in the Oak Forest High School HOF (2012), Chicagoland Sports HOF (2014), and Basketball Coaches Association HOF (2022).
