Five student-athletes on the 2026 Butler baseball team -
David Ayers,
Brock Buckley,
Gavin Gilmore,
Charlie Schebler and
Max Winders - have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District.
The 2026 Academic All-District Baseball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance the the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on June 23.
Ayers, from Fishers, Ind., was solid for the Bulldogs in 2026. The junior batted .268 and recorded 53 hits, 40 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples and 11 home runs to go with 41 RBIs. Ayers earned 17 walks and led the team in stolen bases with 16. Ayers is pursuing his degree in Health Sciences.
Buckley, a senior from Carmel, Ind., earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors after a stellar 2026 campaign. Buckley posted a 4.63 ERA in 17 appearances and led the team in strikeouts with 75 to his credit. He tossed a team-high 79.1 innings while posting a 3-9 record on the bump. Buckley earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll honors twice (3/30, 5/4) and was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week once (4/6). He graduated with his degree in Organizational Communication and Leadership.
Gilmore, from Easthampton, N.J., started 50 games for BU. The junior posted a .286 batting average and recorded 57 hits, 37 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and six home runs to go with 36 RBIs. Gilmore was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll once this season (4/6) and is pursuing his degree in Finance.
Schebler, a Batesville, Ind., native, is pursuing his degree in Biology. In 2026, the junior led the team with a .329 batting average. Schebler recorded 47 hits, 20 runs scored, nine doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs. The junior earned 13 walks and posted a .883 OPS.
Winders, the sophomore from Carmel, Ind., was tremendous for Butler on the mound posting a 4-4 record and a team-best 4.48 ERA across 70.1 innings of action. The righty threw one complete seven-inning game (Morehead St., 3/6) and recorded a save while tallying 61 strikeouts. Across 15 appearances, Winders only gave up 12 walks and posted a 1.18 WHIP. The sophomore is pursuing his degree in Finance.
