Butler Women’s Tennis Program Earns ITA Division I Academic Awards

| By:
Seven Butler women's tennis student-athletes and the team as a whole were recognized for their performance in the classroom this past season as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Bulldogs, as a team, earned the ITA All-Academic Team award, which is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.0 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

Individually, seven Bulldogs earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status. Jordan Schildcrout, Chase Metcalf, Sienna Miles, Elle Martin, Sophie Parr, Katherine Fortney and Julia Uyesato met the rigorous criteria that included at least a 3.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).

Academia is an integral aspect of the college tennis experience and adds to the unique student-athlete experience found on college campuses across the nation.
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
