Butler redshirt sophomore Kyle Grove has been selected as the BIG EAST Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office Tuesday, Sept. 15.
 
It is the first weekly recognition for the Carmel, Ind., native.
 
Grove led the Bulldogs in their first competition of the 2026 season, placing sixth overall at the Spartan Invitational hosted by Michigan State Friday morning.
 
Grove completed the 8k course in a time of 24:36.1, leading the Butler men to a second-place finish in the team standings.
 
Grove and the Bulldogs, ranked No. 16 in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason poll, return to action Saturday at the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
