Brooks Claims Individual Title as Butler Takes Second at RedHawk Intercollegiate

Behind co-medalist honors from freshman Nicholas Brooks and a top-three finish by Logan Sutto, the Butler men's golf team placed second at the RedHawk Intercollegiate at Pittsburgh Field Club.
 
The Bulldogs closed the tournament at eight-under 844, finishing seven strokes behind champion VCU. Butler was followed by BIG EAST foe Seton Hall in third (846). There were 14 teams in the field.

Brooks completed his first collegiate tournament with a 54-hole total of 204 (-9). His final round included three birdies and his only bogey of the tournament. Brooks earned co-medalist honors alongside Robert Burns of Oakland, who also carded a 69 (-2) in the final round.

Sutto finished tied for third at 206 (-7), carding a final-round 68 (-3), the lowest round of the day for Butler. Sutto opened his final round with four consecutive birdies, bringing his tournament total to 15 birdies.

Ethan Blomme finished 26th with a 215 (+2) after carding an even-par 71 in the final round. Blomme recorded three birdies on his final day of play.

Luke Kruger finished tied for 41st with a 219 (+6), carding a final-round 72 (+1).

Freshman Johnny Leaman finished his first collegiate tournament in 70th place with a 74 (+3) in the final round to finish the three rounds at 226 (+13). He recorded three birdies Tuesday.

Competing as an individual, Johnny Creamean finished at 230 (+17) after carding an even-par 71 in the final round.
 
The RedHawk Intercollegiate served as the 2026-27 season opener for the Bulldogs. The team will return to action Sept. 26 at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State, at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.
