The Bulldogs hold a two-stroke advantage after the first day of the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, utilizing an afternoon five-under 275 to solidify the lead heading into Sunday's final round.
 
Butler's Saturday rounds of even-par 280 in the morning and 275 in the afternoon have them two shots ahead of host Ball State (557). Howard is third (565) after the first 36 holes of play. There are 16 teams in the field.
 
Butler's Logan Sutto posted back-to-back rounds of two-under 68 for a 36-hole total of four-under 136. He is one shot back of Ball State's Luke Johnston on the individual leaderboard. Sutto had five birdies in the afternoon round following four birdies in the morning on the 6,624-yard Delaware Country Club course.
 
Freshman Nicholas Brooks is tied for third at two-under 138. He shot a three-under 67 in the second round, which included six birdies. Teammate Luke Kruger is the third Bulldog in the Top 10 after the first day of play, tied for ninth at even-par 140.
 
Freshman Johnny Leaman's day was highlighted by an ace on the 113-yard 14^th hole in the afternoon round.
 
The final 18 holes are scheduled for Sunday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
