2016 Cross Country: Redshirted the season

2016 Track and Field: Captured the gold medal in the men's 10,000 meters at the NACAC Under-23 Championships in San Salvador, El Salvador. Peterson posted a time of 30:28.74, defeating his Team USA teammate Ian La Mere by five seconds…finished 18^th at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track and Field in Eugene, Ore. The youngest runner in the 27-man field, turning 22 just weeks before, crossed the finish line with a time of 30:35.83. Peterson is thought to be the first Butler runner to participate in the U.S. Olympic Trials in track and field since 1974 graduate Tom Burleson, who ran the 5,000 meters in the 1976 and 1980 Trials.

2015 Cross Country: Earned All-American honors at the NCAA Championships, running a time of 30:05.0 for 12th place…earned All-Region honors by clocking 30:31.5 and finishing fifth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional…member of the All-Region team for the third year in a row…All-BIG EAST performer…finished third at the BIG EAST Championships, covering the 8K course in 22:50.2…placed eighth at the Pre-National Invitational (23:31.7)…named the National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA after Peterson won the Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 26. Peterson used a furious kick down the closing straightaway of the 8k course to edge Campbell's Lawrence Kipkoech (a top-10 finisher over 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships) in the closing meters for a four-tenths-of-a-second win in 23:45.9.

2012: Finished eighth (26:03.7) at the Atlantic 10 conference championships and helped lead Butler to the overall team title...placed 97th (33.13) at the 2012 Great Lakes Regional...came in 64th (24:38) at the 2012 Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational...finished 14th (25:21) at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet...placed 101st (24:29.6) at the NCAA Pre-National Meet.

Background:  Two-time All-State runner in cross country at Barrington High School...placed sixth in the state meet in 2010 and eighth in 2011...sectional cross country champion in 2010 and 2011.
