2022 – Redshirt Junior Season: Made 11 appearances out of the bullpen… Held a 10.98 ERA… Struck out 13 batters over 19.2 innings… Walked 16 batters… Limited the opposition to 26 hits resulting in 24 earned runs… Made his season debut pitching one inning vs. Manchester (3/2)… Threw a season-high three innings at #1 Tennessee (3/22)… Struck out a season-high three batters vs. Xavier over three innings (5/7)… Threw a season-high 61 pitches in his final appearance vs. Seton Hall (5/20)… Struck out two in a single inning of shutout ball vs. Evansville (4/12).

2021 – Redshirt Sophomore Season: Made six appearances on the mound… Threw 7.1 innings… Owned a 6.14 ERA… Allowed 11 hits, resulting in five runs… Struck out six batters… Walked six batters… Gave up four extra base hits… Made his season debut vs. Valpo; striking out one over one full inning (3/27)… Struck out two batters over two innings vs. St. John’s (5/14)… Tossed two innings at Xavier; striking out one (4/16)… Threw a season-high 38 pitches two times this season.

2020 - Redshirt

2019 – Freshman Season: Made three appearances on the mound… Tossed 3.2 innings… Held a 7.36 ERA… Allowed three earned runs off three hits… Struck out four batters… Walked two... Made his BU debut at Indiana with one strikeout (Feb. 27)… Struck out three batters in two innings vs. Saint Peter’s (March 1)… Final inning came against Purdue Fort Wayne (March 10).

High School: Three-year starter at Terre Haute South High School under the guidance of head coach Kyle Kraemer... Helped his team post a 61-20 overall record... Only lost three conference games... Back-to-back conference champions in 2017 and 2018... Sectional Champs in 2018, ending the season in the Elite 8... Went 13-3 on the mound... 5-2 as a senior, 5-1 as a junior and 3-0 during his sophomore season... 2.81 career ERA... 121 strikeouts... Two-time First Team All-Conference selection... Team MVP... Team Captain... Academic All-State... Pitched a 12 strikeout, complete game shutout vs. Bloomington South in 2018... Played club ball for American Legion Wayne Newton Post 346... State Champs in 2018... Runner-Up in 2017.

Personal: Son of Tim and Deeann Downs... Has a sibling named Aleksaner... Plans to major in biology.

Why Downs Chose Butler: In order to compete at the hightest level, both in the classroom and on the field. I want to fulfill my commitment to my dad and get to the College World Series.
