2004 Men's Cross Country Team

The 2004 men’s cross country team took distance running success at Butler to a whole new level.  The squad dominated the Horizon League Championship, winning the conference title with a perfect score of 15 points and capturing the top six individual spots!  Butler’s top five individuals crossed the finish line within one second of each other!  The Bulldogs then placed third in a strong Great Lakes Regional field and moved on to take fourth at the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Championship.  At the time, it was the highest finish by any Butler team in an NCAA Championship.  Senior Olly Laws earned All-America honors at the national meet, while senior Andrew Sherman was named Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Year.  Head coach Joe Franklin was named both Horizon League Coach of the Year and NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year.
