Indianapolis, Ind. -
For the sixth-straight season, the Butler men's tennis team is the Horizon League Champion. The No. 1 seeded Bulldogs took care of No. 3 UIC in timely fashion, ousting the Flames 4-0 in the championship match at the North Central High School tennis courts on Sunday (April 29).
The Bulldogs will head to post-season competition for the sixth year in a row and their ninth in school history, with all of them coming under the guidance of head coach Jason Suscha.
Butler got rolling right away in the doubles competition, as Scott Newmark and Evan West tallied a swift 8-2 triumph at No. 3 before James Low and Ben Raynauld worked the point-clinching win at No. 1 with an 8-6 victory.
The top of the order in the singles competition wrapped things up quickly for the Bulldogs, as Low, Eric Breitenbach and West each garnered two-set decisions. West scored the first win at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, Low added a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 and Breitenbach claimed the championship-winner at No. 2 with a 6-4, 6-1 decision.
