Blakeley broke four Butler single-season hitting records (hits, doubles, RBI, total bases) and three career records (hits, doubles, RBI) during his time on campus. The three-time All-Heartland Collegiate Conference first-team selection (1979, 1980, 1981) was Butler's Team MVP in both 1980 and 1981. He hit .333 as a sophomore, .360 as a junior and .341 as a senior.
A four-year varsity letter-winner, Blakeley helped Butler win two Heartland Collegiate Conference championships (1979, 1980). He received the Paul D. "Tony" Hinkle Scholar-Athlete Award from the Heartland Collegiate Conference in 1981 along with the Andy William Award.
