Bailey Montgomery joined the Butler baseball coaching staff prior to the 2021 season. He served as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Wabash Valley before joining the Bulldogs.
Montgomery began his collegiate playing career at Wabash Valley and was a member of the 2017 team that finished third at the NJCAA World Series. From there, Montgomery played first base at Western Illinois for the Leathernecks in his final two seasons. He hit .296 over that span with 75 hits, 44 runs and 43 RBI.
A native of Vincennes, Ind., Montgomery also has coaching experience in the Prospect League with the Lafayette Aviators. As a hitting coach, Bailey helped lead the Aviators to team records in batting average, OPS, OBP, runs, hits, and RBIs. He was promoted from an assistant coach to manager while at Lafayette, and also served as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves.
