2022 - Graduate : Tied for the team lead with 17 appearances… Made four starts… Went 3-4 on the mound with a 10.32 ERA… Struck out 29 batters in 41 innings… Walked 36 batters… Allowed 54 hits resulting in 47 earned runs… Made his season debut at Murray State (2/19)… Got the win at Jackson State throwing two innings in relief (2/25)… Tossed four innings vs. Western Illinois to move to 2-0 on the mound (3/13)… Got his first start vs. Eastern Illinois (4/3)… Threw a season-high 91 pitches over 5.1 innings… Credited with the win vs. Northern Kentucky (4/19)… Threw four innings in a start vs. UConn (5/1)… Final start came at Purdue Fort Wayne (5/17)… Ended his BU career with a save vs. Seton Hall (5/21).

2021 – Senior Season: Made 11 appearances… Started in six games… Tossed 37.2 innings… Went 3-3 on the mound with a 6.21 ERA… Struck out 35 batters… Walked 31 batters… Allowed 33 hits resulting in 29 runs (26 ER)… Struck out a season-high six batters over four innings in his first start vs. DePauw (3/9)… Came out of the bullpen for the first time for inning vs. Purdue Fort Wayne (3/14)… Matched his season-high strikeout total with six in a start at Evansville (3/21)… Gave BU long relief at Ball State with three strikeouts scattered over three innings (4/3)… Longest outing of the season went 5.1 innings at Seton Hall (4/10)… Threw a season-high 111 pitches in a start vs. Villanova (4/25)… Final start covered five innings at Georgetown (5/22)… Credited with the win vs. DePauw, Valpo and Villanova.

2020 – Junior Season: Made three appearances out of the bullpen… Ended the year 1-0 on the mound with a 2.57 ERA… Struck out five batters over seven full innings of action… Walked four batters… Allowed two earned runs off four total hits… Pitched 2.1 innings in his debut vs. George Mason (2/15)… Struck out three batters in his second appearance at Evansville (2/29)… Tossed 2.2 innings at UCF… Struck out two and limited the Knights to just one hit.

2019 – Sophomore Season: Limited to three appearances due to injury… Made his season debut vs. Rider (Feb. 16)… Lone start came in a midweek contest at Indiana (Feb. 27)… Struck out a season-high five batters vs. IU… Threw 2.1 innings and allowed three runs off two hits… Recorded two outs vs. Hofstra (March 3)… Ended the season 0-1 on the mound… Struck out six batters over four full innings.

2018 – Freshman Season: Made 15 appearances, making one start… Went 2-0 on the mound… Held a 6.48 ERA… Threw 16.2 innings… Struck out 15 batters… Limited opponents to just 12 earned runs off 24 hits… Made three appearances out of the bullpen in BIG EAST action… Held a .338 ERA against conference foes… Recorded two outs at UNCW in his team debut (Feb. 17)… Picked up the win vs. Eastern Kentucky after throwing one inning of relief (Feb. 18)… Improved to 2-0 early in the year with a two-strikeout, one-inning outing vs. George Mason (Feb. 23)… Struck out three Hoosiers at Indiana in one inning of action (March 30)… Put up zeros vs. Seton Hall by finishing a frame in just 12 pitches (April 20)… Lone start came at Eastern Michigan (May 15)… Exited the game after three innings with one strikeout… Final appearance was a 72-pitch, 2.2 inning outing at St. John’s (May 25)… Struck out four Johnnies while keeping the Red Storm off the scoreboard.

High School: Earned four varsity letters in baseball at St. Mary under the direction of head coach Joey Wilson... Struck out 70 batters in just 41 innings of work as a senior... Ended the year with a 2.90 ERA... Helped his team as the designated hitter by batting .385 with a .569 slugging percentage...  Two-time all-district and all-region selection... All-State honorable mention after his senior year... Team MVP and captain... Struck out a career-high 14 batters in six innings while only allowing one hit... Played club ball for the Nashville Knights... Member of the National Honor Society... Academic All-State.

Personal: Son of Shelly Bell and John MacCauley III...has one brother, Parker... Plans to major in business.  

Why I Chose Butler: I chose Butler for the great academics, the beautiful campus, and the all-around positive relationships I have with the coaches. It's a good baseball program in a good conference.
