Biography

2020 – Junior Season: Played in five games, making two starts… Recorded two hits in 12 at-bats to post a .167 batting average… Scored a run vs. Saint Joseph’s (3/11)… Ended the year with two RBI and two total bases… Walked three times to move his on-base percentage to .333… Made 19 put-outs behind the plate and added three assists… Pinch hit in his season debut vs. George Mason (2/15)… Got his first start at Evansville (3/1)… First RBI of the year came vs. Baldwin Wallace (3/10)… Went 2-for-4 from the plate vs. Saint Joseph’s with an RBI and a run scored.

2019 – Sophomore Season: Played in five games… Scored one run… Walked once… Made three put-outs in the field… Pinch-hit vs. Purdue Fort Wayne in his season debut (March 10)… Scored a run vs. the Mastodons in the second game of a DH… Caught at Ball State (April 9)… Final appearance came at Air Force (May 11).

2018 – Freshman Season: Played in five games… Recorded one hit in four at-bats to post a .250 batting average… Lone hit was a double… Made seven putouts behind the plate… Entered the St. Peter’s game as a pinch hitter and responded with an RBI double in his debut (March 4)… Took a pinch hit at-bat at Western Michigan (March 17)… Saw time at catcher against Saint Francis and Anderson (March 22, 28)… Final appearance came at Villanova (April 13).

High School: Four year starter at Alta-Aurelia High School under the direction of head coach Dan Wendel... Helped his team win two conference championships (2015, 2016)... Ended his career at Alta-Aurelia with a 78-42 overall team record... Recorded 11 doubles during his freshman season with 19 RBI... Matched that effort with 11 more doubles during his sophomore campaign... Finished that season with 23 RBI... Junior season included six doubles, three triples, six home runs and 21 RBI... Ended his high school career with seven doubles, one triple, five home runs and 24 RBI... Two-time Second Team All-Conference selection (2014, 2015)... Named First Team All-Conference in 2016... Tabbed First Team All-District, First Team All-State, and 2016 Storm Lake Times Player of the Year... Repeated as a First Team All-Conference pick in 2017... Named First Team All-District, First Team All-State while being selected as the 2017 Pilot Tribune Player of the Year... Went 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs against West Bend Mallard (5/26/16)... Played club ball for Perfect Game Iowa Select Black... Also played football and basketball in high school.

Personal: Son of Dan and Kim Wendel... Has a brother, Jeremy... Majoring in mechanical engineering/computer science... Honor Roll student with a 3.9 GPA.
