High School: Three-year infield letterwinner at Edina...earned all-conference honors twice...named academic all-state as a senior, after leading Edina to a conference title...batted .362 as a senior and .347 during his junior year...high school coach was Carter Freeman...also played hockey, earning honorable mention all-conference honors as a senior...won Minnesota High School Hockey Hobey Baker Character Award...played hockey for Curt Giles, who played 14 seasons in the NHL...served as team captain in both baseball and hockey.

Personal: Born Oct. 22, 1993...son of Robb and Maureen Leer...has two older brothers, Robbie and Matt...economics major.
