Charlie Emhardt joined the Butler men's tennis program as volunteer assistant in August of 2020, bringing extensive collegiate and professional experience to the program.
Emhardt climbed to a career-best ranking of No. 555 in doubles while playing on the ATP tour.
Before his stint in the professional ranks, Emhardt was a standout at Valparaiso. He earned Division I All-American status in 2017 after advancing to the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Doubles Quarterfinals.
In fall of 2016, Emhardt and his partner made the first USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championship appearance in program history. The pair finished as the national runners-up, after topping the No. 2 and No. 7 nationally ranked doubles teams to reach the championship.
He is the Valparaiso all-time doubles wins leader with 117 and is third all-time in singles wins with 86. He also holds the single-season doubles victories record along with both the season singles win percentage (.828) and doubles win percentage (.848) marks.
Prior to his collegiate career, Emhardt was a three-time IHSAA Team State Champion with Carmel High School. He was also a 2012 IHSAA Doubles State Champion.
Emhardt graduated from Valparaiso in 2017 with a degree in accounting.
