Holly Hoopingarner

Holly Hoopingarner joined the Butler women’s basketball program as an assistant coach in May of 2022. Hoopingarner focuses on player development, guard play and scouting for the Bulldogs. She was included in the WBCA Thirty Under 30 Program after the 2024-25 season and has been instrumental in recruiting players to Butler.

Before arriving on campus, Hoopingarner spent the 2021-22 season at IUPUI coaching alongside Austin Parkinson and Latrell Fleming. Prior to joining the Jags, Hoopingarner spent a season at Florida as a graduate assistant coach.

Hoopingarner is a Greenwood, Indiana native that played point guard at IUPUI from 2016-20 under the guidance of Parkinson. During her time on campus, Hoopingarner led IUPUI to its first conference tournament title in school history and was tabbed Horizon League Tournament MVP. She also earned the Horizon League's Cecil N. Coleman Medal of Honor, an award that goes to the top female student-athlete who demonstrates outstanding achievement in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.

Over her IUPUI career, Hoopingarner was a two-time member of the Horizon League All-Academic Team and was named to the All-Horizon League Second Team after her senior season. She became the 27th member of IUPUI's 1,000-point club and dished out 305 career assists.

Hoopingarner guided IUPUI to an 89-39 record that included four-straight postseason berths. The Jags won at least 20 games in all four years of her career, and things did not change once she returned to The Jungle as an assistant coach.

During the 2021-22 season, IUPUI went 24-5 overall while winning both the regular season and Horizon League Tournament title to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Jaguars won a school record 14-straight games from Jan. 2 to Feb. 17 and before the start of the conference season, Hoopingarner helped IUPUI go to Iowa City and upset 15th-ranked Iowa 74-73.

Hoopingarner was also part of postseason action during her lone season at Florida. The Gators made the WNIT in 2020-21 with Hoopingarner on staff as a graduate assistant.

Hoopingarner attended Greenwood H.S. and left as the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,614 pts). She set additional school records for most points in a game (42) and in a single-season (591). She was an Indiana Junior All-Star and an Indiana All-Star following her senior season.
