Greg Moore - 2019 Headshot

Greg Moore

Greg Moore joined the Butler Athletics Department as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in February of 2019. In this role, Moore will oversee the department’s Strength and Conditioning programs.

Moore comes to Butler from Vanderbilt University, where he spent the majority of the 2018-19 season as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Commodore Women’s Basketball Team. However, a majority of Moore’s career has been based in central Indiana.

At Vanderbilt, Moore implemented programs to help track performance goals for each player. His responsibilities included exercise prescriptions for injured athletes, as well as preventative training methods, all of which utilized data analytics. Moore was also involved in the team’s nutritional planning.

Moore spent over 13 years with St. Vincent Sport Performance (SVSP) before joining the Vanderbilt staff. At SVSP, Moore served as the Manager of Performance Coaching and oversaw a staff of 10 strength and conditioning coaches. He also served as the NFL and NBA Pre-Draft Training Coordinator for SVSP, as well as the off-season strength and conditioning coach for select professional clients. That list of clients included Olympians and professional athletes at the top of their respective sports, including Butler Basketball’s own Gordon Hayward.

Moore previously held the position of Sports Performance Director with Velocity Sports Performance in Lenexa, Kansas (2004) and Director of Athletic Performance with the National Institute for Fitness and Sport in Indianapolis (1998-2004).

Moore served as the Indiana Fever’s head strength and conditioning coach from 2000-2003, 2004-2007 and during the 2015 season. In that role with the WNBA franchise, he worked with current Vanderbilt Women’s Basketball Coach, Stephanie White, during her playing days with the Fever in 2000.

Moore graduated from University of Sioux Falls in 1992. At USF, Moore earned a degree in Wellness Program Management and Fitness Leadership, and was a member of the men’s basketball program. He holds certifications from both the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and American College of Sports Medicine as an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist.
