Jen Mann joined the Butler Athletics staff in March of 2023 as the Director of Academic Services. She works directly with student-athletes on Butler's men's and women's basketball teams.Â
Mann is no stranger to Butler University, moving over to the athletics department after serving in multiple academic support roles with the university's Center for Academic Success and Exploration, including student development specialist, academic advisor, instructor, and tutor coordinator. Mann arrived at Butler in 2014.Â
Mann provided academic success coaching and mentoring to undergraduate students, communicated support services and provided regular meetings and checkpoints for students, coordinated and managed a university-wide Study Table programming and Peer Tutor services for all Butler students, and facilitated Academic Success Workshops for the entire student body and for specific cohorts (i.e. pre-professional students, athletes, first-year students) based on current needs and trends in Higher Education. She served as an advisor for first- and second-year students who were undecided on an academic path (Exploratory Studies), and taught LC100:Â Strategies for Success; a course designed to assist students in the adoption of proven study strategies and self-reflection as a means to ensure future successes.
Mann has academic advising experience within athletics, serving as an Athletic Academic Advisor at Xavier from 2006-11 where she worked with more than 150 student-athletes each year, and as an Academic Advisor for Student-Athletes at Indiana University from 2004-06.Â
Mann earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Elon University, graduating cum laude. She completed her graduate degree coursework in Health and Kinesiology with an emphasis in Sports Psychology at Georgia Southern University.Â
