Keigan Culler '16

Keigan Culler, a 2016 Butler graduate, serves as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs' track and field and cross country programs.

Culler has been a member of the Butler coaching staff since 2017, taking larger roles each season with the distance program. He served as a volunteer assistant for two seasons before taking a larger role in 2019.

As a member of the coaching staff, he has helped the Bulldogs to three BIG EAST Cross Country titles: the women in 2019 and the Butler in men in both the spring and fall of 2021. Euan Makepeace captured the 2019 BIG EAST Men’s Cross Country individual title while Simon Bedard accomplished the feat in 2021.

On the track, the program’s recent success has been highlighted by Barry Keane, who finished ninth nationally in the 10k at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and finished 11th nationally in the 5k at the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Culler returned to his alma mater after several seasons coaching at the high school and club level. 

The Fremont, Ind. native spent part of 2017 as a coaching apprentice with the Atlanta Track Club Elite Team.  Culler assisted under former Olympian Amy Begley (Yoder) and her husband, Andrew.

Prior to his time in Atlanta, he had a short stint with the women’s distance program at Avon High School (Indiana) following his last collegiate season at Butler.

From 2012-2016, Culler was a member of the Bulldogs cross country and track and field team. He just missed conference honors in two separate seasons at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing 11th in the 3000-meter steeplechase both years (2014 and 2016).  

Culler was a top-50 finisher at the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2016. He was also a member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll.

He is certified through USATF Coaching and has received his Level I.  

Culler graduated in 2016 from Butler with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science. He is currently enrolled in Butler’s graduate program, where he working toward his masters of science in effective teaching and leadership.
