Alex Perry returned to the Butler Athletics staff in October of 2025 as Deputy AD for Finance & Operations. In this role, he oversees business operations and strategy, team travel, equipment, contracts, and other operational functions. Perry also serves on the department's Executive Leadership Team and has primary sport oversight of Butler's Football and Baseball programs.

Most recently, Perry was a member of Michigan State's leadership team in his role as Executive Senior Associate AD/Chief Business Officer. In this role beginning in August 2024, Perry oversaw business operations and managed the financial strategy for the athletic department, including long-range planning and analytics.

Perry previously worked at Ball State, where he started in February 2022 and was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics in January 2024. In Muncie, Perry provided effective leadership in all aspects of the athletic department's financial and business functions, including development and oversight of the department's budget. He served as the athletic department liaison with University leadership on budgeting, financial forecasting, capital expense planning, and internal audit processes. Additionally, he led revenue generation with oversight for the external areas of marketing, ticket operations and Ball State Sports Properties. He also provided leadership in areas beyond finance, including serving as the sport supervisor for football, women's basketball, women's soccer, men's tennis, and women's tennis.

Perry previously was a member of the Butler Athletics' staff for nearly a decade. Originally hired in 2012 in a business operations role, Perry was promoted to Associate Athletic Director of Internal Operations in 2020 (before eventually departing for Ball State in 2022). In his role, Perry oversaw day-to-day functions of the department’s internal operations, which included the operating budget of the athletic department, the business office, the financial aid budget, facilities and events, and the equipment room. A member of the senior leadership team, he had primary sport supervision responsibilities for the football program and secondary sport oversight of the women’s lacrosse program. 

A former Division I student-athlete, Perry played football at Indiana University, where he would also earn two degrees. He received his bachelor's degree in public affairs, as well as a master's degree in kinesiology. Additionally, he earned his MBA from the Butler University School of Business.

Perry is a member of the College Athletic Business Managers Association (CABMA), where he has served on the membership committee and as a mentor in the organization’s mentorship program. 

He and his wife, Danielle, are the proud parents of Grace, Olivia and Jack.
