Butler University Athletics

Brian Tremml, M.A., M.S.

Temml, who has designed personalized mental training programs for athletes across various teams and sports at the Division 1 collegiate and club levels, joined the Butler Athletics staff in June 2024 as Director of Mental Health. He has experience consulting with New Zealand Olympic athletes and several youth swimming organizations and has also collaborated with the staff of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Most recently, Temml was a Mental Fitness Coordinator and Staff Therapist at the Cabin Counseling and Resource Center in Zionsville, Indiana, providing individual therapy, conducted intakes, and participated in group psychoeducational and outreach programs in the community.

Temml's education includes duel master's degrees from Ball State (2022), in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Sport & Exercise Psychology, and a bachelor's degree in Cinema & Comparative Literature from the University of Iowa (2012). He competed for four years as a member of varsity swimming team at Iowa and has coaching experience with the YMCA of Western North Carolina and two Missouri high schools, Rosati-Kain and St. Louis University.

Temml is married to Abby, and the couple have one son, Noah.
