CLEVELAND - Freshman Lauren Lambrecht placed 14th in the 200 fly to highlight Butler's performance during the final night of the Horizon League Swimming & Diving Championships. Lambrecht's time of 2:10.37 was a season-best effort and is fifth in school history.
Overall, the league championships was an eye-opening experience for our young team," head coach Maurice Stewart said. "This team will definitely improve as it gains experience and awareness of what to expect for future league championship meets."
The final day of the league meet was full of solid performances by the Bulldogs. The night started with a season-best swim in the mile by Kyle Johannsen (18:38.60). Three Bulldogs then added season bests in the 200 back. Katie Ring (2:12.56), Regan Girten (2:22.40) and Jessica Onstwedder (2:25.88) all posted new personal standards.
Two more season-best times were set in the 100 free. Libby Platau (1:01.83) and Shelby Tschannen (1:06.80) gave solid performances in the sprint event. Rosalie Fidanze (2:36.14) would then add a season-best in the 200 breast.
Following Lambrecht's swim in the 200 fly, which garnered the Bulldogs three team points, BU's 400 free relay team set a new season best. Lambrecht, Ring, Fidanze and Kathleen Brannen posted a time of 3:45.59. Ring, swimming the second leg of the relay, led the team with a 54.68 split.
Stewart added: "I was most impressed with the way the team bonded and supported one another throughout the meet, which speaks volumes about the values, character and resolve of our young team."
