Box Score WASHINGTON, D.C. – Butler got back to their winning ways on Friday night by sweeping Georgetown on the road 25-18, 25-18, 25-23. With the victory, Butler has now won six of their last eight matches improving their conference record to 7-8.
The freshman duo of Anna Logan and Briana Lilly led Butler to victory against the Hoyas. Logan recorded 10 kills, eight digs and five blocks for 13.5 points while Lilly chipped in with nine kills, four digs and four blocks. Logan hit .290 for BU and Lilly led the team with a .375 attack percentage.
Sophomore Makayla Ferguson set up the action for BU with a team-high 28 assists. She added five digs, two kills and a block to her stat line against Georgetown.
Mary Striedl and Aki Aitsebaomo were standouts defensively in the Butler win combining for 24 digs. Striedl led the team with 14 while Aitsebaomo added 10.
Butler dominated the action in the first two sets to take a commanding 2-0 lead and after nine ties and five lead changes the 'Dawgs would end the night with a clean 3-0 sweep over the Hoyas. BU hit .212 as a team compared to .139 from the Hoyas. Georgetown had three different student-athletes reach a double figure kill total, but 12 team blocks from Butler would keep their attack off-balance.
The win keeps Butler alive for a spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Volleyball Tournament and also improves their overall record to 11-17. The team will look to add another victory to their win column on Sunday when they take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb.
