@ButlerWBB Drops 60-49 Decision at RV/25 Chattanooga

Box Score

CHATTANOOGATori Schickel and Blaire Langlois combined to score 33 of Butler's 49 points on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs took a 60-49 road loss to RV/25 Chattanooga. BU held a two-point lead after the first quarter, but a five minute scoring drought at the start of the second quarter allowed the Mocs to score 12-straight points which ended up being the difference in the outcome.

Schickel was once again the bright spot in the BU lineup as she scored a team-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds. The freshman forward notched those figures after three full quarters of play before fouling out of the contest in the fourth.

Blaire Langlois was the second part of the Butler one-two scoring punch as she ended the game with 16 points on 4-of-12 shooting. Two of her four made field goals were from 3-point range and the senior was also in the box score with three assists, two steals, two rebounds and a blocked shot.

Chattanooga had three student-athletes reach double figures in Moses Johnson, Keiana Gilbert and Aryanna Gilbert. Johnson came off the bench to add nine rebounds and an assist in her 27 minutes of action.

The sluggish start to the second quarter allowed Chattanooga to erase a two-point first quarter deficit and open up a 10 point lead. Langlois broke up the scoring streak near the midway point with a pair of free throws, but the Chattanooga advantage would stand at 27-19 at the half.

Head Coach Kurt Godlevske and his coaching staff made some adjustments at the half allowing Butler to close out the third quarter on a strong run. BU outscored UTC 15-13 in the quarter and trimmed the lead to 40-34 heading into the final 10 minutes.

Butler kept the game close in the fourth, but was never able to get within one possession. With Schickel on the sideline with five fouls and the turnover count at 18, BU would be hit with their first loss of the season after defeating Valpo on Friday night.

The Bulldogs will return to action 10 days from now against another nationally-ranked opponent in South Florida. Tip-off between the 'Dawgs and the Bulls is slated for 7 PM.
