LOUISVILLE -- The Butler men's tennis team competed in the Louisville Invitational over the weekend in their last action of the fall season. The tournament field included Butler, Austin Peay, Campbellsville, Indiana, Lipscomb, Marquette, Morehead State, Murray State, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern Ohio, Purdue, SIU Edwardsville, Kentucky and Louisville.
Butler's Adrian Mag highlighted the tournament for the Bulldogs. Mag flew through the first three rounds of Flight B, as he did not drop a single set on his way to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, Mag faced off against Louisville's George Hedley. Mag took the first set 6-3 before Hedley came back to take the second set 7-5. Mag would rebound, taking the third set and the match 6-3, to advance to the finals.
In the finals, Mag squared off against Kevin Lai of Kentucky. Mag would fall to Lai 6-2, 6-4 to take a second place finish in the Flight.
Mason Dragos picked up one match victory in Flight A when he defeated Louisville's Brian Tsao 7-5, 6-4, before falling in the second round.
Ari Gerstein and Temilope Adelakun both found success in the consolation bracket. Adelakun advanced to the finals in the Flight C Consolation bracket after defeating Carson Panovec of Lipscomb 6-2, 1-6, 10-6. Adelakun would fall in the finals to Johan Fuzellier of Campellsville 6-4, 1-6, 10-3. Gerstein came away with two match wins before falling in the semifinals in the Flight B Consolation bracket.
In doubles action, the Bulldogs were only able to come away with one victory on the day. Mikheil Khmiadashvili and Alex Woldmoe defeated Bouggy and Hanayama of Purdue 8-5 in the first round of Flight B before falling in the second round.Â
