OXFORD, Ohio -- The Butler women's tennis team traveled to Oxford, Ohio to compete in the Miami Ohio Invitational over the weekend. The two-day tournament featured the host school Miami Ohio, BIG EAST rival Xavier University, and Lipscomb University.

Butler's first action of day one came against a familiar foe in Xavier. The Bulldogs played four matches in the doubles session, and came away with one win against the Musketeers. Angela Avgerinos and Jordan Minnick pulled out the victory at No. 4 against Megan Morris and Abigail Roebker 6-3.

Butler would then move on to face Miami Ohio in the singles session. The Bulldogs would struggle throughout the day, as they were not able to pick up a victory in seven matches against the RedHawks. Bailey Padgett suffered a tough loss at No. 1, after she lost the first set 6-4, before eventually falling to Hannah Shteyn in the second set 6-2. The afternoon doubles session didn't fare much better for the Bulldogs, as they would drop all three matches to the RedHawks.

The morning session of day two featured Butler against Lipscomb in women's singles. Butler was much more competitive against the Bison, but would fall in the matchup 4-2.  Kylie Haviland and Callie Schmit were the top performers for the Bulldogs as they each received a victory at No. 2 and No. 6.

Haviland defeated Katerina Kandyba 6-1 2-0 (ret.), while Schmit defeated Kathryn Evans 4-6, 7-5, 6-2.  Haviland was successful again in doubles as she and Padgett picked up Butler's only match win at No. 1 against Laura Kent and Danielle Kinnen 6-4.  The last action of the day came in the singles session against Xavier. Butler was not able to pick up a win in six matches against the Musketeers.
