BLOOMINGTON – The Butler women's tennis team took a 7-0 loss at Indiana over the weekend to move their overall record to 0-4. With matches against Purdue and Indiana now behind them, the Bulldogs will look to record win No. 1 this Friday with an away match at Ball State.
Doubles action finished in order with Indiana coming out on top in all three matchups. Bailey Padgett and Kylie Haviland lost 6-0 at No. 1, Rachel Sutton and Kailey Eaton lost 6-1 at No. 2 and the team of Callie Schmit and Konstantina Adami took a 6-3 setback at No. 3.
Haviland put up the best fight for BU in singles competition, but she ended up with a 6-7 (2-7) 6-4, 10-6 loss at the No. 2 spot. Padgett once again played at No. 1, falling 6-4, 6-1 to Madison Appel. With Haviland and Padgett taking up the top two spots, Adami moved to No. 3 where she lost 6-1, 6-1.
IU won the first three single matches in straight-sets at the bottom of the lineup. Sutton played at No. 4 and was taken down 6-0, 6-3. Eaton played at No. 5 and was defeated 6-0, 6-1. Also in action for BU was Callie Schmit at No. 6 singles. She lost 6-0, 6-2.
