KNOXVILLE - The Butler men's tennis team competed in ITA Regionals over the past four days at the University of Tennessee. BU saw great success with one of its doubles teams that reached the semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.

The duo of
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Ari Gerstein went 3-1 on the weekend, eventually being defeated by a tandem from Kentucky in the semifinals (7-5, 6-3). Kentuckys doubles team will face off against a pair from host school Tennessee on Monday morning to see who earns a berth to the ITA National Indoor Championships in February.

Shabat and Gerstein both also competed in singles action. Shabat went 1-1 during his singles play, defeating an opponent from UTC in the first round (6-1, 6-2) before falling to Scott Jones of Tennessee (2-6, 2-6).

Gerstein would go 1-2 during the tournament. Gerstein dropped his first match of singles play to an opponent from ETSU (6-4, 6-1), before moving onto the consolation to pick up a win over Wright State (6-3, 6-0) and losing to Vanderbilt (4-6, 6-2, 10-3).Â

Temilope Adelakun would finish the tournament 2-2. Adelakun notched wins over UTC (6-2, 6-2) and Lipscomb (2-6, 6-4, 10-6).

Mason Dragos finished his singles play at 1-2. Dragos earned a win in his first competition against Indiana (6-7 [5-7], 6-1, 6-2) before dropping his next two matches.

Adrian Mag would also finish his tournament of singles play at 1-2. Mag rallied after a first match loss to win in his second singles matchup (4-6, 6-1, 10-7).

Mag and Adelakun teamed up for doubles play. The pair would drop their lone match for the tournament to a duo from Indiana (8-6).

Spencer Lang's singles play was similar to that of Mag. Lang would drop his first match to Louisville before winning his second match (6-4, 7-5) and finishing the weekend at 1-2.

BU will play again this upcoming weekend against Purdue. The match will take place in West Lafayette, Ind. from October 28th through the 30th.Â
