Spolyar Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
In a 1-1 opening weekend for the Bulldogs, Spolyar was Butler's top scorer at 18.0 points per game, including a 25-point effort in her collegiate debut. The rookie guard totaled 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a nine-point setback to East Tennessee State on Friday. She followed that showing up with an 11-point, four-rebound, two-assist performance in Butler's 58-56 win over Bradley on Sunday. For the week, Spolyar averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and .429 shooting.

All-Time Series
Wednesday's tilt between Butler and Fort Wayne will be the 11th meeting of the all-time series with Butler leading the head-to-head matchup 6-4. The first meeting took place during the 1976-77 season with Fort Wayne claiming a 64-46 win. The Mastodons also won the most recent meeting with a 68-60 decision during the 2011-12 season.

Keys to The Game
Who will set the tempo when Butler hosts Fort Wayne? Through their first three games of the 2016-17 season, the Mastodons are averaging 68 points per contest, 10 more than Butler's average over their first two games. Can Fort Wayne slow down Tori Schickel? Tori Schickel is coming off a 21 point, 11 rebound effort in the win over Bradley and the Mastodons have had recent trouble defending the post. On Saturday, Kelsey Tietje of Defiance recorded 31 points and 10 rebounds against the Mastodons and on Monday night, Trine got 20 points and eight rebounds out of their center Hayley Martin.

Schickel Wins The Game
Butler picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon by defeating Bradley by the final score of 58-56. Madison Dellamuth hit two free throws for the Braves with less than a minute to play, tying the game at 56-56. Butler would call a timeout after the second made free throw and advance the ball with 26 seconds left. The play drawn up in the huddle would work perfectly as Tori Schickel took the ball on the block and scored on her defender with less than a second to play in regulation.

Short Bench
The Bulldogs are banged up at the start of the 2016-17 season. Brittany Ward and Alexa Bailey have yet to see the court this season due to injury and on Sunday afternoon BU was limited to just six players for a majority of the contest. Every member of the starting five logged over 30 minutes of playing time.

Fast Start
Butler got off to a great start against Bradley by outscoring the Braves 18-2. The Braves shot 7 percent from the field (1-for-14) over the opening 10 minutes while Butler hit seven of their 13 attempts (53%) to build the large lead. Scoring was spread out for BU with Buck and Spolyar each scoring five points and the duo of Brey and Schickel each scoring four.

Halftime Adjustments
Butler has outscored their opponent in the third quarter in each contest this season. The Bulldogs erased a six-point halftime deficit vs. ETSU to take a slim lead after outscoring the Bucs 20-12 in the third quarter on opening night. On Sunday, BU edged Bradley 17-16 in the third to take a 12-point lead into the fourth quarter.

National Rankings
As a team, Butler ranks 38th in the nation with a 79.4 free throw percentage and 43rd in the country with 20 steals. Sophomore Tori Schickel is ranked in multiple categories after just two regular season games. Schickel ranks 13th in steals (7), 17th in minutes played (73), and 35th in total rebounds (19).

Spolyar Can Score
Freshman Kristen Spolyar set the Indiana single-season high school scoring record during her senior year at Lebanon with 1,031 points. That effort helped her finish third all-time in the state of Indiana with 2,882 career points. The newcomer currently leads Butler in scoring with her 18 points per game average.

Consecutive Start Streak
Junior Sydney Buck has been a staple of the Butler starting five unit since arriving on campus for her freshman season. The shooting guard has never missed a start during her BU career and now heads into Wednesday having started in 63 consecutive games.

Buck Moves to 9th In career 3-point Makes
Junior Sydney Buck hit two more 3-point field goals against Bradley to move her career total to 131. She now ranks ninth all-time in the category, passing Jennifer Marlow on the top-ten list who finished her outstanding career with 128 (1996-99).

Indiana All-Stars
The 2016-17 women's basketball roster features seven former Indiana All-Stars. Whitney Jennings, Sydney Buck (2014), Brittany Ward, Alexa Bailey, Tori Schickel (2015), Sydney Shelton and Kristen Spolyar (2016) all earned the honor after stellar high school careers.

Rebuild The Roster
Butler added six new players to the program a year ago and now, one year later, the Bulldogs bring in six more new faces for the start of the 2016-17 season. Five of last year's six newcomers will return to Butler for their sophomore campaigns while this year's group features four true freshmen and two transfers.

Up Next
Butler will travel to Madison, Wis. this weekend to face the Badgers on Sunday afternoon at 12 PM.
