Weaver Leads Butler Past Fort Wayne
Point guard Michelle Weaver turned in an impressive performance for the 'Dawgs in their win over Fort Wayne Wednesday. The sophomore scored 22 points to go along with six assists and three steals, all of which were team-highs. 13 of her 22 points came in a 10-minute stretch in the third quarter that helped BU regain the lead.

All-Time Series
Butler is 0-2 all-time against Wisconsin. The first meeting between the two programs was played during the 2003-04 season with the Badgers posting a 61-46 victory in the Sonesta Thanksgiving Classic which was held in Coconut Grove, Fla. The second meeting came during the 2011 WNIT Tournament with Wisconsin defeating Butler 68-48 to advance.

Keys to The Game
Butler will need to slow down 6-0 junior guard Cayla McMorris who heads into the weekend averaging 21 points per contest. McMorris can shoot from distance (5-for-13) and isn't afraid to attack the rim to get points from the charity stripe (18-for-20). The Bulldogs will also need to block out against the Badgers with Wisconsin pulling down 50 rebounds per game over the first three contests of the year compared to just 35 for BU. Another element to Sunday's game will be the turnover battle. Wisconsin averages 22 turnovers a game, five more than Butler's average of 17.

Spolyar Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week (Nov. 14)
In a 1-1 opening weekend for the Bulldogs, Spolyar was Butler's top scorer at 18.0 points per game, including a 25-point effort in her collegiate debut. The rookie guard totaled 25 points, seven rebounds and three steals in a nine-point setback to East Tennessee State on Friday. She followed that showing up with an 11-point, four-rebound, two-assist performance in Butler's 58-56 win over Bradley on Sunday. For the week, Spolyar averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.5 assists and .429 shooting.

Short Bench
The Bulldogs are banged up at the start of the 2016-17 season. Brittany Ward and Alexa Bailey have yet to see the court this season due to injury and the team was limited to just seven players on Wednesday afternoon in a matchup vs. Fort Wayne. Every member of Wednesday's starting five unit logged over 30 minutes of playing time.

Consecutive Start Streak
Junior Sydney Buck has been a staple of the Butler starting five unit since arriving on campus for her freshman season. The shooting guard has never missed a start during her BU career and now heads into Sunday having started in 64 consecutive games.

Buck Moves to 9th In career 3-point Makes
Junior Sydney Buck hit two more 3-point field goals against Fort Wayne to move her career total to 133. She now ranks ninth all-time in the category, passing Jennifer Marlow on the top-ten list who finished her outstanding career with 128 (1996-99).

Indiana All-Stars
The 2016-17 women's basketball roster features seven former Indiana All-Stars. Whitney Jennings, Sydney Buck (2014), Brittany Ward, Alexa Bailey, Tori Schickel (2015), Sydney Shelton and Kristen Spolyar (2016) all earned the honor after stellar high school careers.

Halftime Adjustments
Butler has outscored their opponent in the third quarter in each contest this season.

National Rankings
As a team, Butler ranks 32nd in the NCAA with 32 steals. The Bulldogs also rank 45th in free throws made (40) and 53rd in free throw attempts (57). Forward Tori Schickel ranks 10th in total rebounds (30), 21st in minutes played and 24th in steals (9). Kristen Spolyar ranks 32nd in total points and 38th in field goals made. Michelle Weaver ranks 40th in the NCAA with 13 assists.

Schickel Wins the Game
Butler picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion by defeating Bradley by the final score of 58-56. Madison Dellamuth hit two free throws for the Braves with less than a minute to play, tying the game at 56-56. Butler would call a timeout after the second made free throw and advance the ball with 26 seconds left. The play drawn up in the huddle would work perfectly as Tori Schickel took the ball on the block and scored on her defender with less than a second to play in regulation.

Spolyar Can Score
Freshman Kristen Spolyar set the Indiana single-season high school scoring record during her senior year at Lebanon with 1,031 points. That effort helped her finish third all-time in the state of Indiana with 2,882 career points. The newcomer currently leads Butler in scoring with her 17.3 points per game average.

Rebuild The Roster
Butler added six new players to the program a year ago and now, one year later, the Bulldogs bring in six more new faces for the start of the 2016-17 season. Five of last year's six newcomers will return to Butler for their sophomore campaigns while this year's group features four true freshmen and two transfers.

2016-17 BIG EAST Preseason Poll
The Bulldogs were picked to finish eighth in the BIG EAST preseason coaches' poll. After a vote from the head coaches, two teams split first place votes to share the top spot. Those two teams are Creighton and DePaul who recorded 75 points each. Marquette took the third spot (62) and Villanova was close behind in fourth (59). The Georgetown Hoyas received enough votes to land in fifth (51) and the bottom half of the preseason poll would include St. John's (38), Seton Hall (31) Butler (25), Xavier (20) and Providence (14).
