Box Score
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Butler Bulldogs defeated the Providence Friars 3-1 on the road Sunday afternoon (25-19, 23-25, 25-14, 25-17).  With the victory, the 'Dawgs snap a two-match skid and improve their overall record to 17-13 with a 6-8 mark in the BIG EAST.

Anna Logan and Whitney Beck led BU in the victory by both posting double-doubles.  Logan recorded a team-high 20 kills to go along with 15 digs for her 14th double-double of the year.  Meanwhile, Beck added 15 kills of her own with 13 digs for her seventh double-double of the 2016 campaign.

Other notable performers in the victory included setter Makayla Ferguson and Bri Lilly.  Lilly posted 14 kills for the Butler attack while Ferguson registered 51 assists.  It was the third time this season that the BIG EAST assist leader eclipsed the 50 assist mark.

Butler secured an early lead in the first set.  A service ace by Ferguson got the 'Dawgs out to a 8-2 lead.  A Providence timeout would help the Friars close the early gap, but BU's offensive pressure proved to be too much.  Butler took a 1-0 lead by winning the set 25-19 with Beck pacing the offensive attack with six kills.

Set two began similar to the first with Butler jumping out to an early 7-1 lead after three straight kills from Lilly.  However, the Friars stormed back with eight straight points to capture the lead.  Butler came within one point late in the set, but ended up dropping their only set of the match 23-25.  The 'Dawgs hit a mere .091 for the set.

The Bulldogs continued the match trend of taking an early lead in the third set and dominated from start to finish.  Led by Logan and Beck, the BU attack hit an impressive .368 in set three.  The 'Dawgs led by as much as 13 and took a 2-1 lead with a final set score of 25-14.

Butler's strong play carried over to the fourth set.  After trading points early, three consecutive points for BU built a sizeable 15-9 lead.  A couple points later, Butler scored four consecutive points to push the lead to 19-11.  The Bulldogs finished off the Friars 25-17 to win the match.  Logan finished the set with 7 kills on 11 swings.

The 'Dawgs continue their east coast road trip next weekend with a trip to the nation's capital to face Georgetown.  The match is scheduled for Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
