INDIANAPOLIS -- The Butler women's tennis team competed in three matches over the weekend and came away with one win and two losses.
On Friday, the Bulldogs defeated University of Indianapolis by a score of 6-1. They started out by taking the doubles point taking two of the three matches.
UIndy took their only point of the day in No. 1 singles, as Bailey Padgett fell in two sets to Florence Renard. The rest of the competition was centered on Butler victories. The other five singles matches all went in favor of Butler, with three of those coming in straight-sets for the Bulldogs.
Saturday was a bit of a different story with Lipscomb turning the tables on the Bulldogs, winning 6-1. Butler started the day by dropping all three doubles matches. The lone Butler victory came in No. 2 singles as Konstantina Adami took down Katerina Kandyba in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Sunday presented more difficulties for Butler as the Bulldogs were unable to find an answer for Southern Illinois University as Butler fell 4-0. After taking the first four points, SIU clinched the match and ended Butler's chance to steal a victory.
Butler dropped the doubles point and failed to force a third set in any of the singles matches that finished. The best match came at No. 3 singles. Kailey Eaton dropped her first set by a close score of 7-5, she fell in the second set 6-1, giving Meagan Monaghan the point.
Butler's next match comes next Saturday as they travel to Southern Illinois Edwardsville on Feb. 20.
