@ButlerUBaseball Drops 3-1 Decision to Georgetown

Box Score

INDIANAPOLIS – Georgetown's Simon Mathews tossed a six-hit, complete game on Saturday afternoon to lead the Hoyas to a 3-1 victory at Bulldog park. Butler's lone unearned run crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth, but Simon kept the bats quiet the rest of the afternoon to even the weekend series at 1-1.

Drew Small scored Butler's only run of the game off an RBI groundout from Tyler Houston. The Bulldogs took advantage of three Hoya errors in the frame to knot the score at 1-1.

The game took a turn in the top of the seventh when Beau Hall sent a sacrifice fly to right field that broke the 1-1 tie. Georgetown would add to their lead in the eighth with an insurance run off a Charlie Dillon single to center.

Butler put a man on base in the ninth, but a deadly 4-6-3 ground double play would end the game.

Simon highlighted the Georgetown defense with six strikeouts and no walks in his complete game. He picked up the win while the loss fell to Nick Morton who tossed eight full innings. Morton struck out five and also didn't allow a single walk.

All six BU hits were recorded by different players. The Hoyas however had four players end the game with a multi-hit performance and three different players all record one RBI.

These two teams will meet at Bulldog Park again tomorrow to see who will win the weekend series. First pitch is slated for Noon.
