CAYCE, S.C. – The Butler women's tennis team ended the 2016 campaign with a 4-1 win over Providence in the back draw of the BIG EAST Tournament. Victories from Konstantina Adami, Michelle McFerran, and Jordan Minnick mixed with the doubles point helped BU come out on top.
Adami played a large role in the outcome by winning her singles match as well as her doubles match alongside teammate Jocelyn Koester. The duo paired up at No. 2 to defeat Amanda Pitocco and Hannah Zangari 6-4. The point would fall to BU after a 6-3 win at No. 3 behind the strong play from Jordan Minnick and Michelle McFerran.
In singles competition, Providence avoided the sweep with a win at No. 1, but BU earned the overall win with victories at 2, 5 and 6.
Adami won 6-1, 6-2 over Nicole Cyterski to provide Butler with a point at No. 2 singles. The bottom of the lineup also did damage with McFerran knocking off Brooke Burnside 6-4, 1-6, 6-1. The day would come to a close with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win from Minnick at No. 6 where she defeated Hannah Zangari.
