@ButlerVB Defeats Loyola-Chicago 3-1 in Butler Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS- Butler continued their hot streak Friday evening with a 3-1 victory over Loyola-Chicago (25-23, 25-20, 27-29, 25-20). This match was the Bulldogs second of the Butler Invitational. The victory also boosts the BU win streak to nine matches.
 
Anna Logan led the 'Dawgs on offense with her phenomenal play on the attack. Logan had a match-high 21 kills on 44 attacks for a .341 hitting percentage. Makayla Ferguson was also very active for the offense adding a team-high 52 assists.
 
Christina Porada and Taylor Takeda controlled the Bulldog defense. Both accumulated double-digit digs, Porada with 10 and Takeda with 13.
 
The first set of the evening was a hard fought battle that ended in favor of the 'Dawgs, 25-23. Logan got off to another great start with a set-high nine kills. Ferguson led the Bulldogs in two categories in the set, notching 15 of her 52 assists as well as five digs. 
 
The second set was more of the same with BU edging out the Ramblers 25-20. Logan and Brooke Gregory were essential to the offense in the set. Logan had five kills on nine attempts with zero errors and Gregory had five kills on eight attempts with just two errors. Gregory's final kill of the set was a ferocious one to seal the victory for the 'Dawgs.
 
Set three was a marathon of play that saw Loyola-Chicago victorious 29-27. Butler fell behind early but after Takeda served three-straight points the Bulldogs tied the set at 9-9. Gregory was effective on the offense yet again, accounting for six of the teams 20 kills in the set while Ferguson added 16 assists.
 
The fourth set showed perseverance for BU, bouncing back to win 25-20. Bri Lilly had an efficient offensive performance in the set. Lilly had four kills on five attempts for a .800 attack percentage. The match was sealed when Porada took over as server at 21-20. Porada served four-straight points, including a service ace, to finish off the Ramblers and continue the Butler win streak.
 
Butler will continue play in the Butler Invitational on Saturday night against the Arizona Wildcats. Play will begin in Hinkle Fieldhouse at 6PM.
