Recent History
Butler's lone win over Creighton came in the first meeting of the 2013 season inside Hinkle Fieldhouse. They upset the nationally-ranked Bluejays 3-1 during their first season in the BIG EAST Conference. On the other side, Butler is a perfect 7-0 against Providence.
Scouting #17 Creighton
Creighton fell to #17 in the AVCA Coaches Poll after losing to Marquette last week 3-0. They rebounded with a clean 3-0 sweep at DePaul the following day to move their overall record to 12-5. The Bluejays are battle tested after a tough non-conference schedule that featured tilts against #3 Washington (W, 3-1), #13 Kentucky (W, 3-0), #18 USC (L, 3-0), #17 Purdue (L, 3-1), #7 Kansas (W, 3-0) and #19 Iowa State (L, 3-2). This balanced group heads into the weekend with a .271 team attack percentage while limiting the opposition to just a .197 average. They rank second in the BIG EAST in each category. Jaali Winters, Taryn Kloth and Marysa Wilkinson give setter Lydia Dimke three legit options up front. All three hitters average three kills per set and Wilkinson doubles as the team leader in blocks with 59. Brittany Witt leads the team with 223 digs and 17 service aces.
About Providence
The Friars won 11-straight games at the start of the 2017 season, but head into the weekend with a 14-7 overall record after losing seven of their last ten matches. Providence broke a four-match skid by winning their first two BIG EAST contests against Villanova and Georgetown, but they were swept on the road at St. John's, Seton Hall and Marquette. The team most recently won 3-0 at DePaul last weekend. Addison Root will be an impact player for the Friars on Sunday. The 6-0 sophomore has a team-high 273 kills on the year (3.74 per set), is near the team lead in digs with 178 and leads the team with 26 service aces. Allison Barber sets the tempo with a team-high 764 assists to go along with 210 digs. The team's dig leader is freshman Lydon McKenzie. The young squad also has a sophomore in the lineup in Lindsey Schaible. She leads the club in blocks with 59.
