@ButlerVB Sweeps Providence 3-0

INDIANAPOLIS – Butler improved to 21-6 on the year with a quick 3-0 win over Providence on Saturday afternoon (25-18, 25-13, 25-17). BU hit .341 as a team to pull out the victory. Their conference record now stands at 11-4.

Brooke Gregory led the team in kills with 10. She was the only player in the match to reach double figures. The sophomore outside hitter hit .438 by recording her 10 kills on just 16 swings. Whitney Beck nearly duplicated that stat line with eight kills on 16 swings. She only made one error which also put her percentage at .438.

Bri Lilly was a force for the Bulldogs at the net. The junior came up with eight kills and a team-high five blocks. Anna Logan tied Lilly for the team-lead in blocks with five of her own. Logan ended the match with eight digs, six kills and a team-high three service aces.

Butler also got a lift from Natalie Ravenell and Taylor Takeda who each posted 10 digs.

The story of the first set started with Logan recording back-to-back service aces. She sparked a 4-0 scoring run that gave Butler a 16-14 lead and forced a Providence timeout. The Friars would use their second timeout trailing 20-16 and the 'Dawgs would sprint to the finish line by scoring the final three points to earn the 1-0 lead.

The second set was never in question as Butler used 5-0 scoring run to open up a 19-10 lead. They moved ahead 2-0 in the match with a 25-13 win.

Set three was more of the same with Butler breaking a 12-12 tie to open up an 18-13 lead. Logan, Gregory and Beck all had four kills in the finale to complete the sweep.

Butler will return to action tomorrow with another 1 PM match. They will host #14 Creighton on Facebook Live.
