INDIANAPOLIS – The final two home matches of the regular season are up next for the Butler volleyball team. BU will host Providence on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM and end the weekend with another 1 PM match against #14 Creighton. Sunday's match will stream Facebook Live.
Bulldog Bits
- The Bulldogs have now reached at least 20 wins in four of their last five seasons

Scouting Providence
The Friars have lost six of their last seven matches, moving their overall record to 16-13. Butler swept PC on Oct. 15 (25-12, 25-22, 25-20) behind a strong outing from
Anna Logan. The Bulldogs hit .355 as a team, connecting on 50 kills in just 107 attempts.
Bri Lilly hit .538 against Providence with eight kills and five blocks. Logan led the way with 16 kills and
Whitney Beck was in the box score with 11. Providence didn't have any players reach a double figure kill total. The Friars hit .154 as a team, recording 31 kills on 104 swings. Allison Barber had a double-double with 25 assists and 13 digs. Barber is a great all-around talent who has over 1,000 assists on the year to go along with 300 digs and 40 blocks. Addison Root is the focal point of the PC attack. The sophomore has 360 kills on the year, but was limited to just six in the first meeting vs. BU. Cayla Veverka found the most success vs. the Bulldogs. She had nine kills in the first meeting on just 23 attempts (.304).
About #14 Creighton
The Bluejays have won nine-straight matches to move their overall record to 20-5. Their lone setback against a conference opponent came at Marquette (3-0) on Oct. 5. The nationally-ranked Bluejays are led by Jaali Winters. The dynamic outside hitter leads the team with 294 kills on the season (3.42) and is near the team-lead with 234 digs. Lydia Dimke sets up the action and doubles as one of the top serving threats. Brittany Witt, the team's starting libero, is an impact player with 25 service aces and 361 digs on the year. Winters recorded 28 kills in the first meeting while adding 19 digs for a double-double. Dimke just missed a triple double with 65 assists, 13 digs and seven kills. Witt was all over the court with a team-high 30 digs in the 3-2 come from behind win.
Parking
Parking inside the Hinkle Fieldhouse lot on Saturday will cost $20 due to a football game starting at the same time. Those fans attending the game are encouraged to use the Butler University Parking Garage located on Sunset Ave.
Senior Day
Makayla Ferguson and
Whitney Beck will be recognized on Sunday afternoon before opening serve. Ferguson is a four-year starter at Butler that has played in 450 sets. The former BIG EAST Freshman of the Year has 4,351 career assists, a total that ranks her fourth-all time. Beck is an outside hitter that currently leads the team in both kills (307) and digs (303). Beck has recorded over 700 kills and 600 digs during her career.
Accuracy and Precision
The Bulldogs are hitting .248 with just four games left in the regular season. The school record for highest attack percentage in a single-season belongs to the 1985 team who hit .277. Coach Clark's 2013 team hit .260 which ranks second all-time. If BU stays at .248 they will rank third all-time.
RPI Rankings
Butler is ranked #58 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. They are the third-highest ranked BIG EAST team behind both Creighton (14) and Marquette (33). BU split the regular season series against Marquette with each team winning on the road. The 'Dawgs lost 3-2 to Creighton at DJ Sokol Arena on Oct. 13 after winning the first two sets of the match.
In-And-Out
There have only been two matches this year when a Bulldog student-athlete has not recorded a double-double. Each result was a 3-0 win for Butler. The first game was a 3-0 sweep at DePaul and the second was the last home match vs. Xavier.

Makayla Ferguson are the only two Bulldogs on the roster to play in all 98 sets this season.
Home Sweet Hinkle
This weekend signals the end of Butler's five-game home stand. The 'Dawgs have won six-straight and are 12-2 overall at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
2017 BIG EAST Volleyball Championship Tournament
The semi-final matches are scheduled for November 24 on BEDN, with the championship game to follow the next day on FS2. All three games will be played at Marquette in the Al McGuire Center.
Up Next
Butler will end the regular season with road games at Seton Hall and St. John's. Friday night's match against the Pirates will stream on BEDN at 7 PM. Opening serve at St. John's on Sunday will bump up to 5 PM.
