Butler dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon to open the Mardi Gras Invitational hosted by South Alabama. Murray State took a 9-1 decision in five innings in the opener before South Alabama won 2-0 in the nightcap.
The Bulldogs are now 3-4 on the young season.
Murray State got on the board with seven runs in the bottom of the first en route to the win.
Alyssa Lach knocked in the Bulldogs' run.
Mikeila Boroff took the loss for Butler.

Gabbi Schnaiter was the hard-luck loser for Butler against South Alabama, allowing just two runs while scattering five hits in the Jaguars' 2-0 win.
South Alabama's Devin Brown allowed the Bulldogs only one hit, which came off the bat of
Brandyce Sallee.
South Alabama got single runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Bulldogs continue play in Mobile Saturday with games against Jackson State (12:30 p.m.) and McNeese State (5:30 p.m.).
