INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler lacrosse team took a 19-7 loss to California on Friday afternoon. Taylor Lores highlighted the game for the Bulldogs with three goals and one draw control. The setback moves Butler's overall record to 0-3 while Cal improves to 1-2.
 
The Bears got off to a fast start by recording the first seven goals of the game. Ashley Lizzi broke up the shutout and Butler would make it two in a row with a goal from Lores midway through the opening half. Lores would find the back of the net again at the 9:21 mark, but the Bears would hold a 15-3 advantage after 30 minutes.
 
The second half featured a running clock and the scoring would slow down as a result. Butler matched Cal's goal output over the final 30 minutes 4-4. Cal scored the first four goals of the second half, but BU would fire back with four of their own.
 
Haley Hallenbeck registered two of the four goals, coming up with the first and the last during that stretch. Lores added her third goal of the game with 7:45 left and Madison Christian put her name in the box score with an unassisted goal with just over six minutes to play.
 
Draw controls were dominated by the visitors today 18-9. The shots would also heavily favor Cal 33-14. Butler will return to action on Sunday afternoon with a contest at home against Saint Mary's.
