Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS –The Butler women's lacrosse team ended the non-conference portion of their schedule on Thursday afternoon with a 4 PM match against the Central Michigan Chippewas. The Bulldogs led 4-1 early in the action, but would face a five goal deficit at the half. The surge by CMU in the final stages of the opening half would get them the win as the two teams finished the second half tied up 4-4.

Butler had four different players come up with two goals each. Emily Annand, Madison Christian, Journey Fischbeck and Ashley Lizzi all tied for the team lead in scoring. Lizzi added two assists to her stat line to post a game-high four points. The only other assist for BU was credited to Fischbeck.

The Chippewas were led to victory by Riley Huda and Jocelyne Lemay. Huda ended the contest with eight points which included a game-high seven assists. A majority of those assists went to teammate Lemay who posted six goals in just eight shots.

Competition opened with a CMU free position shot, giving the Chippewas an early score at the 29:11 mark. Butler would respond by scoring the next four goals, all of which came from a different player. Christian scored the first goal off an assist from Lizzi and Fischbeck would give BU the lead off an unassisted score.

Butler made it three in a row after Annand came up with her first goal of the season off the Fischbeck feed and Haley Hallenbeck would follow with her lone goal of the game to push the scoreboard to 4-1.

The game took a turn with CMU scoring the next five goals, three of which came from Lemay off a Huda assist. Lizzi would pull BU within one at 5-6 with her sixth goal of the season, but the opening half would come to a close with the Chippewas rattling off four-straight to open up a 10-5 advantage.

Two of CMU's final four goals of the opening half came with under a minute to play and that momentum would ride into the second half. Central Michigan scored the first four goals of the final 30 minutes to grab a 14-5 lead. Butler's push for a comeback would feature four-straight goals, but the first half lead was too large to overcome.

The goalie for BU in the first half was Allie Storke, but head coach Cecil C. Pilson made a change at the half. Haley Rayburn would enter the contest and post a game-high 10 saves in just 30 minutes. Storke was credited with two.

Butler will return to action on Saturday at 12 PM. Conference season begins with a matchup against the Georgetown Hoyas.
