INDIANAPOLIS – Butler's first-ever BIG EAST Conference lacrosse match was held today at Varsity Field. The Georgetown Hoyas opened up a 10-1 lead after the opening 30 minutes and would move forward to record the 18-2 win over the Bulldogs. The Hoyas improved to 3-5 on the season while BU dropped to 1-8.
 
Butler's lone goal of the first half came off a shot from Adilyn Smith, her third goal of the season. Smith found room in the middle of the field after taking a nice pass from Emily Annand who would be credited with her third assist of the year.
 
BU found the back of the net again in the second half with Haley Hallenbeck taking a pass from Ashley Lizzi. Hallenback scored her team-high 21st goal off Lizzi's seventh assist of the season.
 
The Bulldogs stuck with Haley Rayburn at goalie for all 60 minutes. She made 10 saves in the first half and two in the second to end the game with 12.
 
Butler will return to action next weekend with an away game at Vanderbilt. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 PM in Nashville, Tenn.
