About Butler
The Bulldogs are 1-8 overall with a recent setback to Georgetown in their BIG EAST opener.
Haley Hallenbeck,
Madison Christian and
Journey Fischbeck are the top goal scorers on the team. Hallenbeck has 21 goals and three assists for a team-high 24 points. Christian has 14 goals off 27 shots and Fischbeck is the team-leader in assists with 10. Fischbeck has 13 goals, 12 ground balls and five caused turnovers on the year as well.
Hallenbeck leads BU in multiple statistical categories. She heads into the weekend with 19 ground balls, 24 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers.
Ashley Lizzi is another top option for BU with 20 draw controls, eight ground balls, seven goals and seven assists.
Defensively Butler splits time at goalie between
Haley Rayburn and
Allie Storke. Storke has more minutes and saves on the season, but Rayburn started against Georgetown.
Scouting Vanderbilt
The Commodores are 4-2 overall with a 1-0 conference record. They recently defeated Villanova 14-12 and they will travel to Baltimore on Wednesday to face Johns Hopkins at noon.
Additional wins for Vanderbilt came against Kennesaw State (17-5), Furman (18-8), and Coastal Carolina (11-7). Their only two losses came against nationally-ranked teams in #20 Louisville (11-10) and #16 Elon (12-9).
Top scoring options for Vandy include Kayla Peterson, Julie Blaze, Jill Doherty and Emily Mathewson. Peterson and Blaze are one-two on the stat sheet with 17 and 16 goals scored. The assist leader is Doherty with 13. Doherty also leads the club with 14 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Vanderbilt has used three goalies on the season with two of the three picking up a win this year. The leader is Callahan Kent who holds an 8.61 goals against average. Kent is 3-2 on the year with 39 saves.
Steady As She Goes
Haley Hallenbeck has recorded at least one point in eight of Butler's nine games this season. Her top performance of the 2017 season included five goals and an assist against Saint Mary's.
